Abstract: | The presentation addresses the themes of the conference - co-operation, initiative and creativity – and presents an argument about the contribution that non-positional teacher leadership can make to these goals. Evidence from the HertsCam initiative and the International Teacher Leadership project is drawn upon to support a theory of educational innovation in which the concept of teacher leadership is linked with the development of professional learning cultures in schools and the process of professional knowledge building. It is argued that teachers are able to lead innovation and build professional knowledge provided that they have appropriate forms of support. |
